The Saren couple, who originally hail from West Bengal, lived in a tenement in Shinde Vashti, Hadapsar, owned by Dattatray Chaudhari. Arti Deivilal Saren and her husband, Deivilal Laxmanchandra Saren, were both laborers and had a 6-year-old son.

For several days, tensions had been rising between the couple. On Friday night, their argument turned violent. Neighbors reported hearing the disturbance. Deivilal violently struck Arti’s head against the wall and attacked her with a household item, resulting in severe head injuries and bleeding. Arti died at the scene.

Realizing that his wife was dead, Deivilal fled early Saturday morning with their 6-year-old son.

On Saturday morning, the door to Saren’s apartment was discovered open. Neighbors, intrigued, looked inside and found Arti Saren’s dead body, which was covered in blood. They quickly notified their landlord, Chaudhari, who then contacted the police.

Assistant Police Inspector Vilas Sutar arrived at the scene with his team, carried out an inquest, and arranged for the body to be sent for an autopsy. The police have filed a case and are actively searching for the accused, who is currently on the run.
