Pune, 10th October 2024: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced significant changes to the Maharashtra Non-Gazetted Group B and Group C Services Examination. It has been decided to conduct separate preliminary examinations for various cadres within Group B and Group C services. While the syllabus for both services will remain the same, a service-specific syllabus for Group B and Group C will be announced separately.

MPSC shared this information through a press release. On 1st August 2022, MPSC had announced plans to revise the pattern of various competitive examinations. Subsequently, the exam scheme for the Maharashtra Non-Gazetted Group B and Group C Services Examination was released on 19th January.

Initially, a combined preliminary examination for both Group B and Group C services was conducted as per the provisions of this scheme in 2023. However, due to technical difficulties, court cases, and delays in the examination process, MPSC has now decided to conduct separate examinations for the two services.

On 18th July 2024, the State Government decided to fill the posts of Group B (Non-Gazetted) and Group C Cadres (except Driver) in all government offices, outside the purview of MPSC, through direct recruitment. As a result, the recruitment process for various cadres in Group B (Non-Gazetted) and Group C services across government departments will be conducted by MPSC.

Given the increasing number of cadres in these services, the growing number of candidates appearing for the examination, technical difficulties encountered during the 2023 results process, and various court decisions leading to delays, MPSC has opted to hold separate preliminary examinations.

Details regarding the Group B (Non-Gazetted) Services Combined Examination and the Maharashtra Group C Services Combined Examination will be published on the MPSC website.
