The iPhone Index reveals that a Swiss individual only needs to work for 4 days to purchase the iPhone 16. In comparison, an average American must work 5.1 days, while those in Australia and Singapore require 5.7 days.
The iPhone Index, established by Picodi.com in 2018, is an annual evaluation of the price-to-wage ratios for iPhones. The latest edition for 2024 was calculated based on the official price of the iPhone 16 Pro (128 GB).
Net wages were determined through the use of salary calculators. The monthly income was divided by 21, reflecting the typical number of working days in a month. In nations where statistical agencies apply weekly rates, the earnings were divided by 5.
In India, it takes approximately 47.6 days of work to purchase the new iPhone 16.
‘In the US, the average person would need to work for 5.1 days to save up for it. Australia and Singapore are not far behind, with 5.7 days of work needed to purchase the device.residents of Switzerland, which has some of the highest wages in the world, can afford the iPhone 16 Pro with just four days of work. In contrast, those in countries with lower average incomes, such as India, face a much greater challenge,’ says the iPhone Index survey.
In India, the starting price for the iPhone 16 base model is Rs 79,900. If you are interested in the larger iPhone 16 Plus, it is available for Rs 89,900. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro is priced at Rs 1,19,900, while the premium iPhone 16 Pro Max comes in at Rs 1,44,900.
