New Delhi, 10th October 2024: Government telecom company, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is working on rapidly upgrading its network. BSNL officials told the parliamentary committee that they are working hard to improve BSNL’s user base and services. The company is planning to completely replace its existing network in the next six months.
BSNL officials stated that their services will become even better in the next six months. They said that they are planning to increase the number of 4G towers from 24 thousand to one lakh. BSNL officials said that the company is working on indigenous technology for better telecom services under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
Many senior officials including Neeraj Mittal, Telecom Secretary, and BSNL CMD were present in the meeting with the parliamentary committee. During this, BSNL’s 4G and 5G services were discussed in detail. The members of the parliamentary committee expressed displeasure over the falling users of BSNL and the increasing complaints of problems like call drops.
BSNL officials informed that about 54 thousand 4G towers are almost ready for installation. Along with this, the company has almost completed the network upgrade work on many sites. Officials said that they have completed preparations to install one lakh 4G towers within the next six months. Along with this, the company is also testing the 5G network on many sites.
BSNL has partnered with Carbon Mobile. The company is constantly working on upgrading its network. Most of BSNL’s customers are from rural areas hence, the company has planned to bring feature phones in collaboration with Carbon Mobile so customers can buy phones with the 4G network without buying expensive smartphones for 4G service.
