So, what will VIP numbers cost for your vehicle in Maharashtra? For the number ‘0001’, the fee for VIP plates will increase to ₹5 lakh for four-wheelers, up from the previous ₹3 lakh.
For two- and three-wheelers, the fee will rise to ₹1 lakh from the existing ₹50,000 in regions like Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Pune, Thane, Raigad, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, and Nashik.
The VIP fee for ‘0001’ will now be ₹6 lakh, increased from ₹4 lakh for vehicles with four or more wheels.
If the number ‘0001’ is not available in the current series for that vehicle type, the revised fee will be three times the basic fee: ₹15 lakh for four-wheelers and ₹3 lakh for two- and three-wheelers.
Additionally, out-of-series VIP numbers will now cost up to ₹18 lakh, a rise from the previous ₹12 lakh in Mumbai and Pune.
The state government has also permitted the transfer of VIP numbers to immediate family members, such as spouses, sons, and daughters. In Maharashtra, 240 VIP numbers have been designated in each registration series, and the fees for these numbers will increase to ₹2.5 lakh for four-wheelers, up from ₹1.5 lakh, and to ₹50,000 for two-wheelers and three-wheelers, compared to the previous ₹20,000.
For 16 specific popular numbers, the updated fee will be ₹1 lakh for four-wheelers, instead of the previous ₹70,000, and ₹25,000 for two-wheelers.
Furthermore, the government has extended the timeframe for presenting a vehicle with a reserved number from 30 days to six months, according to the notification.
