This grand procession will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state’s tribal traditions, with a special program highlighting their customs and lifestyle. The announcement was made during a press conference by mandal leaders Santosh Dhanawade, Abhishek Tapkir, Uday Jagtap, Vijay Kshirsagar, Sunil Pissal, and trustee Aniruddha Yevale.
The initiative is also a call to other Ganesh mandals across the city to join forces in setting this new precedent. The procession, expected to draw 8,000 to 10,000 participants, will begin at Gulabnagar, Dhankawadi, and pass through key locations such as Dhankawadi village, Keshav Complex, Vidyanagari Shivshankar Chowk, before concluding at Mohan Nagar.
The procession will feature cultural performances, including tribal dances and displays of traditional attire, offering Punekars a glimpse into the tribal way of life. The Universal Tribal Institute’s Rajat Raghatwan emphasized the importance of community participation in this endeavor. The event follows the success of last year’s joint procession by the same 11 Ganesh mandals in Dhankawadi, which laid the foundation for this year’s larger initiative.
Present at the conference were several prominent figures from the participating mandals, including Pratik Kumbhar, Pravin Anpat, Chinmay Waghokar, Aniket Tawre, Uday Bhosale, Anand Shinde, Rupesh Ranavare, Abhijit Kolpe, Ajinkya Ingle, Somnath Shirke, Aditya Zhad, Sameer Dighe, Rohit Pol, Yogesh Ghavare, and Milind Kale.
