Pune, 26th September 2024: In a significant initiative to raise health and hygiene awareness among a vulnerable group of women labourers working at construction sites, a Health and Hygiene Workshop is being organized by Ismaili CIVIC in collaboration with the Aga Khan Health Board for Pune, Robinhood Army, and Lunkad Developers. The workshop is scheduled to take place at the Labour Camp in Sakore Nagar on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

The working conditions for these women often expose them to harmful chemicals and gases, prompting the need for this educational event. The workshop aims to empower participants with essential knowledge on various topics, including:

– Preventive measures to protect against respiratory ailments and infections
– Sanitation and hygiene practices
– Safe disposal of garbage and maintaining household cleanliness
– Access to clean drinking water and food safety

The session will be conducted by qualified doctors and will include an orientation followed by medical screenings. These screenings will encompass general check-ups, blood pressure assessments, and complete blood count (CBC) tests to identify health issues such as anemia.

“This workshop is a crucial step towards improving the health and well-being of women labourers,” said Akbar Merchant, Ismaili CIVIC Lead, Ismaili Council for India. “By providing them with vital health education and medical screenings, we hope to empower them to make informed decisions about their health.”
