IMD Predicts Widespread Rainfall Across 10 States, Including Delhi And UP, Within The Next Week


New Delhi, 24th August 2024: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall alert for the upcoming week, forecasting light to heavy rain across 10 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. The IMD predicts that the rain will begin as early as August 27, affecting both northern and southern regions of India. The advisory highlights the likelihood of pleasant weather conditions prevailing from southern to northern states, with significant rainfall expected in several regions over the next seven days.

The IMD has indicated that southern and western states will likely experience substantial rainfall, particularly in Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Coastal Karnataka. Scattered rainfall is also anticipated in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Rayalaseema, and Telangana. Heavy rainfall is predicted at isolated locations in Kerala and Mahe throughout the week, with Coastal Karnataka expected to see significant rain from August 27 to 30.

Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is likely in western and central India, including Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, and Kutch. Heavy rain is forecasted for regions extending from Goa to Madhya Pradesh between August 24 and 29, impacting areas such as Marathwada, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.

In northern India, light to moderate rainfall is expected in hilly regions, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and eastern Rajasthan. Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and western Rajasthan may also experience scattered showers throughout the week.

The IMD’s advisory provides a comprehensive overview of the weather patterns expected across India, urging residents in the affected regions to prepare for varying intensities of rainfall over the coming days.
