India’s Horticulture Production To Dip By 0.65% In 2023-24, Reveals Survey


Vegetable production is estimated to remain steady at 205.80 million tonnes, with significant growth expected in tomato, cabbage, flower, sago, pumpkin, paddy, cucumber, kale, padwal, and okra production. On the other hand, major crops like potatoes, onions, brinjal, big sweet potatoes, and capsicum are expected to decline.

Other segments of horticulture production are also showing positive trends. Production of honey, flowers, spices, aromatic, and medicinal plants is expected to increase.

  • – Horticulture production estimated at 353.19 million tonnes in 2023-24
  • – Fruit production to increase by 2.29% to 112.73 million tonnes

  • – Decline in production of apples, oranges, mangosteen, guava, litchi, pomegranate, and pineapple
