Lucknow to Pune: Fugitives Caught in Well-Planned Police Trap

Pune, 30th September 2024: The Pune Police’s Anti-Extortion Cell, Unit 2, successfully arrested two accused individuals arriving from Lucknow at Pune Airport. This operation was based on confidential information received regarding their arrival. The accused had been on the run and hiding in Lucknow for some time.

The action was led by Senior Police Inspector Vijay Kumbhar, Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Gaurav Deo, who, along with a team comprising police personnel Surendra Jagdale, Ghavate, Anil Kusalkar, Dilip Gore, Amol Ghavte, Sunil Pawar, Ganesh Kharat, Pavan Bhosale, Chetan Apte, and Ajinath Yede, set up a well-planned trap at the airport. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to the crimes outlined in FIR No. 1342/2024.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:
1. Rahul Balasaheb Tupe, age 34, residing in Hadapsar, Pune.
2. Sagar Ramesh Dhumal, age 34, residing in Fursungi, Pune.

The duo had been on the run for over a month and were wanted in connection with FIR No. 1342/2024, registered at Hadapsar Police Station. They face serious charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Sections 189(2), 189(3), 191(2), 191(3), 324(4), and 351(2), as well as provisions under the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

PSI Kudale from Hadapsar Police Station, along with other investigating officers, were present at the airport during the operation. The overall operation was conducted swiftly by the Anti-Extortion Cell team under the supervision of senior Crime Branch officers.
