MMRDA Unveils Rs 58,000-Crore Ring Road Plan To Decongest Mumbai

Mumbai has been grappling with traffic snarls, prompting significant infrastructure developments in recent years. The MMRDA’s new plan seeks to reroute heavy traffic away from the city’s core, offering faster travel options through the proposed road network. Central to this mega plan are seven outer and inner ring roads, which are currently at various stages of tendering and development.

The MMRDA will collaborate with several development authorities, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), to implement the ring road network. Most of the new roads will be tolled, aiming to ease the burden on existing infrastructure.

This project aligns with the long-term vision of “Mumbai in Minutes,” which intends to reduce travel time across the city to under an hour.

The MMRDA’s comprehensive plan is set to transform Mumbai’s transportation landscape, making it more efficient for residents and commuters alike.
