Pune, 23rd September 2024: Shri Kshetra Bhimashankar, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, was thronged by devotees during the month of Shravan. To accommodate the influx, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) deployed extra buses from Pune, generating an income of ₹77.40 lakh. During this period, 415,500 devotees traveled by these buses.
Every Monday in Shravan sees a surge of devotees, including many from North India, traveling to Bhimashankar. To provide immediate bus services for passengers from Pune City to Bhimashankar, MSRTC released additional buses from Swargate, Shivajinagar, Khed, and other depots in Pune.
This year, more than 40 buses were designated for routes to Bhimashankar from Narayangaon and Rajgurunagar. A total of 163 buses were deployed from Swargate, Shivajinagar, Talegaon, Shirur, Baramati, Indapur, Saswad, Daund, Pimpri-Chinchwad, MIDC, and Manchar. Throughout the month of Shravan, a total of 9,883 extra bus trips were made.
The income generated by MSRTC from Pune to Shri Kshetra Bhimashankar during Shravan, along with the number of passengers, is as follows:
