The initiative has gained significant traction on social media, garnering widespread praise.
Meesho shared an update on its nine-day break via social media, stating in a LinkedIn post, “No laptops, Slack messages, emails, meetings, or stand-up calls, nothing work-related for 9 days!”
“We’re heading into our 4th consecutive company-wide “Reset and Recharge” break from October 26th to November 3rd. After the efforts put into this year and our successful Mega Blockbuster Sale, it’s time to fully unplug and focus on ourselves. This break is for us to recharge our minds and bodies for a fresh and energized start to the year ahead,” continues the post.
The company announced that its employees will enjoy nine days of paid leave following its mega blockbuster sale, which runs from October 26 to November 3.
The recent announcement from Meesho has captivated netizens, especially in light of the growing conversations surrounding work-life balance and toxic workplace cultures.
“Dear Meesho Team, I would like to take a moment to appreciate the decision of giving a 9 days break to all the employees”, a user wrote. Another user commented, “I can’t even imagine this in the current hustle-type work Culture across all Industries. Incredible, Meesho. You guys have set an example.”
This initiative happened for the first time in 2022 where the online platform had announced an 11-day free trial which at that point in time was the first ever such initiative by any startup in India. Founder and CTO Sanjeev Barnwal announced on Twitter in 2022 that this decision aligns with the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
