Bhosari MIDC, 23rd September 2024: The aggrieved entrepreneurs staged a ‘Rasta Roko’ protest, alleging that waste from the Bhosari Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Pimpri Chinchwad was not being picked up daily by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). They burned garbage by throwing it onto the road and issued a warning against littering if garbage is not regularly collected.

Entrepreneurs Jasbinder Singh, Milind Kale, Praveen Chavan, Krishna Walke, Sachin Bhagat, Rahul Gard, Nitin Shirke, Amol Swamy, Isak Pathan, Durga Bhor, and Jayashree Salunkhe participated in the protest led by Forum of Small Scale Industries Association President Abhay Bhor.

Abhay Bhor stated, “The garbage problem has become serious in the Bhosari MIDC area. If garbage is thrown on the street, action is taken; if it is kept in the company, diseases spread. In some places, there is a huge pile of garbage, and workers cannot even eat. Over the last five years, piles of garbage have appeared everywhere in the MIDC.”

Abhay Bhor continued, “The accumulation of waste has seriously impacted workers’ health. They have contracted diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. Scrap dealers are contributing to the accumulation of waste in companies, as they obtain scrap material from it. This has affected production, and many workers are taking continuous leave. Garbage trucks should be dispatched to this area; otherwise, we will resort to intense agitation and hunger strikes.”
