Private Bus Catches Fire on Pune-Mumbai Highway; Passengers Rescued Safely, No Casualties


Pune, 7th October 2024: A private bus traveling on the old Pune-Mumbai highway caught fire around 7 pm on Sunday (6th October). All 33 passengers, including the driver and cleaner, were safely evacuated. No casualties have been reported.

The bus, which was en route from Bengaluru to Jaipur, caught fire shortly after descending from Waghjai temple on the highway. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

After getting information, IRB personnel and the fire brigade arrived at the scene and managed to control the blaze. However, the bus was completely destroyed by the fire.

The incident caused a significant traffic jam on the old Pune-Mumbai highway, with long queues of vehicles forming in the aftermath.
