Pune, 24th September 2024: Pune Airport carried out its annual earthquake preparedness drill at the New Terminal Building on September 21st, aimed at evaluating and improving the facility’s disaster management capabilities. The exercise simulated an earthquake scenario to ensure effective coordination among various agencies in the event of an emergency. While the primary focus was on earthquake response, firefighting teams were on hand to manage any potential hazards.

The drill involved a collaborative effort among multiple agencies, including the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Fire Department, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, traffic police, and the State Health Department. Medical teams from the State Health Department provided first aid and handled the triage process for simulated injuries, while fire safety personnel remained on standby to address any fire-related risks.

This exercise highlighted the significance of regular preparedness drills and reaffirmed Pune Airport’s commitment to the safety of its passengers and staff. After the drill, Santosh Dhoke, Airport Director, expressed gratitude to all agencies involved for their collaboration.
