Pune: Ban On Heavy Vehicles Peth Areas During Ganesh Utsav For Traffic Management

Pune, 4th September 2024: During Ganesh Utsav, Pune’s Peth Areas are particularly crowded due to the city’s rich cultural heritage. To manage traffic, heavy vehicles are fully banned in these areas from the 5th to the 18th of September.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende has urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules. Heavy vehicles carrying goods in commercial areas should remain outside the city, with materials being transferred to smaller vehicles for transport into the centre. Drivers of heavy vehicles are advised not to enter the central areas.

The following roads and areas are completely closed to heavy vehicles: Lal Bahadur Shastri Road, Sena Dutt Police Chowky to Alka Talkies, Tilak Road, Jedhe Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk, Kumthekar Road to Shanipar Chowk and Alka Talkies Chowk, Laxmi Road to Sant Kabir Chowk and Alka Talkies, NC Kelkar Road to Phutka Buruj and Alka Talkies Chowk, Bajirao Road, Puram Chowk to Kakasaheb Gadgil Statue, Chhatrapati Shivaji Road from Kakasaheb Gadgil Statue to Jedhe Chowk, Karve Road from Nal Stop to Khandoji Baba Chowk, Fergusson College (FC) Road from Khandoji Baba Chowk to Veer Chaphekar Chowk, Sinhagad Road from Rajaram Bridge to Swatantryaveer Savarkar Chowk, and Mudaliar Road from Ganesh Road to Power House Chowk, including Daruwala Bridge, Jijamata Chowk, and Phutka Buruj Chowk.
