Wadgaon Sheri, 5th September 2024: For the past few days, the Mahayuti alliance has been experiencing several internal rifts, which now seem to be escalating. In the most recent meeting led by MLC Pankaja Munde, who is the in-charge political leader for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections in Pune, there was significant discontent among Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists in Wadgaon Sheri. Around 150 BJP activists who attended the meeting expressed strong opposition, stating that if the current MLA, Sunil Tingare from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar, is given the ticket, they will not campaign for him.

The activists in Wadgaon Sheri Constituency complained to Pankaja Munde, stating that the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) did not support Murlidhar Mohol’s campaign during the Lok Sabha elections. They also demanded that the Wadgaon Sheri Constituency should remain with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Arjun Jagtap, President of the BJP’s Wadgaon Sheri Constituency, has declared that the BJP should retain the seat; otherwise, they will refuse to work. This poses a significant challenge for Sunil Tingre, who is preparing for the election. It will be important to see what decision is made moving forward.

Regarding this, Pankaja Munde stated, “A party worker doesn’t get upset because they don’t receive benefits; they get upset because they don’t receive respect. That is what makes Mahayuti different now. It’s a new experience—different things are happening. The Shiv Sena split, Eknath Shinde became the Chief Minister, and the NCP, whom we considered our opponents all our lives, split and joined us. But to establish power, treaties need to be made, and certain calculations must be done. These decisions were made by the senior leaders. If you feel offended, it’s understandable—resentment is not wrong.”
