Pune: Health Technology Assessment Resource Centre Inaugurated at AFMC for Transparent Healthcare Decision-Making

Pune, 18th September 2024: In a landmark advancement toward transparent and evidence-based decision-making in healthcare, the Health Technology Assessment Resource Centre (HTA-RC) under the Department of Health Research (DHR), HTAIn, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, was inaugurated at the Department of Community Medicine, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune. The centre was inaugurated by Lt Gen Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM, PHS, DGAFMS & Senior Colonel Commandant, AMC.

The event was attended by Lt Gen Sandeep Thareja, SM, VSM, Director & Commandant, AFMC, Maj Gen Giriraj Singh, Dean & Deputy Commandant, AFMC, Pune, and other senior dignitaries of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS).

Amid growing healthcare challenges and public health concerns, a dynamic approach to decision-making is essential to keep pace with technological advancements and enhance healthcare delivery. The DHR HTA Resource Centre at AFMC will serve as a technical partner and resource hub for DHR, not only for AFMS but for the entire nation.

The centre will facilitate the assessment of evolving health technologies, focusing on clinical efficacy, cost-effectiveness, and social, legal, and ethical considerations. It will also promote informed policy decisions and help prioritize the introduction of new technologies in healthcare delivery.
