Market Yard, 31st August 2024: Pune, 31st August 2024: Due to constant rains, the production of leafy vegetables has suffered. This decrease in cultivation has led to a reduced supply of all leafy vegetables, including coriander, fenugreek, and spinach. As a result, prices for these vegetables have risen significantly. In the retail market, a bouquet of coriander now fetches between Rs 60 and Rs 80, depending on the grade. Fenugreek bouquets are selling for Rs 50, and spinach prices are also increasing.

The Pune region has experienced continuous rainfall, which has affected the grading of leafy vegetables. Currently, the inflow of these vegetables is low compared to the demand. Rajendra Suryawanshi, a leafy vegetable trader at Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard, reported that the prices of all leafy vegetables, including coriander, fenugreek, and spinach, are on the rise.

Currently, the arrival of leafy vegetables from the Pune division is low, and the damage caused by rain is significant. Many leafy vegetables are stained, and only high-quality produce is fetching good prices. The prices of all leafy vegetables, including fenugreek, coriander, and spinach, have increased in the wholesale market. It will take at least a month for new planting to yield results. Therefore, according to Suryawanshi, the prices of leafy vegetables are expected to continue rising until Ganesh Utsav.
