Kalyani Nagar, 24th August 2024: Concerned residents of Kalyani Nagar have raised alarms over the deteriorating condition of pavements in the area, specifically in front of Silver Oak Society at Marrakesh Corner. With the rainy season exacerbating the issue, loose pavement blocks have turned the footpath into a hazardous zone for pedestrians. The situation has already led to at least one unfortunate accident, sparking fears of more injuries if the problem is not addressed promptly.

Monica S., a resident of the area, expressed her frustration over the lack of response from the authorities. “We have observed several pavement blocks coming loose, and it’s become a serious safety issue. Despite our complaints, there hasn’t been any prompt action to fix the problem. It’s disheartening to see that authorities seem to wait for more mishaps before taking action,” she said.

Echoing Monica’s concerns, Yasmin, another resident, emphasized the need for proactive measures. “The rainy season has made the footpaths even more dangerous, and it’s alarming that nothing has been done yet. We shouldn’t have to wait for more accidents to happen before something is done,” she remarked.

Aaditya Patil, who also resides in Kalyani Nagar, highlighted the residents’ collective effort to bring the issue to light. “As responsible citizens, we cannot stress enough the importance of addressing these dangers before they lead to further injuries. The lack of urgency shown in resolving this matter is deeply concerning,” he said, urging the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take swift action.

Munir Vastani, another resident, shared his disappointment over the situation. “It’s clear that the safety of pedestrians is being neglected. We have appealed to the PMC to act on our complaints, but so far, nothing has been done. We hope the authorities will take this matter seriously before it’s too late,” he stated.

The residents of Kalyani Nagar are now calling for immediate intervention from the relevant departments to repair the hazardous pavements and ensure the safety of all pedestrians.
