Pune Rural Police Seize Five Country-Made Pistols from Hotel Employee Attempting to Sell Them

Shirur, 30th September 2024: Pune Rural Police seized five country-made pistols from an employee working in a restaurant who was preparing to sell them. He had bought the pistols from Madhya Pradesh.

Two people have been arrested in this regard: Aniket Vilas Gavhane (age 20) and Mangesh Dadabhau Khupate (age 20), both residents of Ahmednagar. Gavhane and Khupate were standing on Shirur Bypass Road near The Nana Spot Hotel when they were apprehended.

The Detection Branch (DB) of Shirur Police had received information that the two were trying to sell country-made pistols for profit. The police set a trap and caught them. During interrogation and investigation, five country-made pistols and four cartridges were seized. Gavhane, who works in a hotel, revealed that he had met a carpet seller while working there, through whom he bought the pistols from Madhya Pradesh. Pune Rural Police had received information a month ago that Gavhane possessed these guns.

The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent Ramesh Chopde, Sub Divisional Officer and Prashant Dhole. The team included Police Inspector Sandesh Kenjale, Assistant Inspector Hanumant Giri, Nath Saheb Jagatpa, Vinod More, Vijay Shinde, Parashuram Sangle and Neeraj Pisal.
