Pune, 9th October 2024: On 23rd September, the School Education Department decided to select candidates with D.Ed. and B.Ed. qualifications on a contractual basis for one of the two teaching positions in a limited number of schools. Accordingly, it has been clarified that local residents of the Gram Panchayat should be prioritized in this selection process.

However, the ward offices were asked about the selection criteria that should be considered for the candidates. In this context, the Education Department has issued additional instructions through a circular regarding this contractual appointment.

According to the general agreement for the academic year 2023-24, if two teachers are working in a school with ten or fewer students, the appointment of the second teacher should be on a contract basis only after the actual post becomes vacant following the adjustment of one of the teachers according to the prevailing procedure.

When selecting candidates, priority should be given to those belonging to the Gram Panchayat area of the concerned school. In the event that more than one application is received from local candidates, preference should be given to candidates with higher marks: D.Ed. for classes 1 to 5, and B.Ed. for classes 6 to 8. If candidates have equal marks, preference should be given to those with more educational and professional qualifications. In cases of equal qualifications, the older candidate should be given preference. If applications from candidates within the Gram Panchayat area of the vacant post are not received, then applications from the concerned taluka should be considered. If no suitable candidates are available from the taluka, then candidates from the respective district may be considered.

According to the government’s decision, it will be necessary to enter into an agreement with the Primary Education Officer on behalf of the Zilla Parishad.

It has also been noted that for municipal management, an agreement must be made with the Education Officer and Administration Officer of the concerned municipality. In cases of municipal management, it is also necessary to agree with the respective Chief Officer.
