Hinjawadi, 23rd August 2024: Six gamblers have been arrested in Pune’s Hinjawadi by officials of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. The operation conducted late last night resulted in the exposure of their activities. Items worth around ₹8.5 lakh were confiscated. The gamblers were involved in playing ‘Teen Patti,’ or three-card poker, during a raid at the Hotel Western Park Lodging And Restro Bar on Sus Road.
Police Constable Rajaram Sarate reported the incident to the Hinjawadi Police Station. The arrested individuals are Ravindra Gundya Rathod (age 40, resident of Dhanori), Kumar Bapu Khaladkar (age 39, resident of Sutarwadi), Satyam Kemiya Rathod (age 38, resident of Narhe), Rukesh Lokya Meghawat (age 43, resident of Nande), Lokesh Waliya Meghawat (resident of Sus Gaon, Mulshi), and Chandu Bhavsan Khetavat (resident of Nande).
According to police reports, Teen Patti gambling was taking place at Hotel Western Park Lodging and Restro Bar on Sus Road. The Hinjawadi Police received information from a confidential source about the illegal activity. A raid was conducted, resulting in the arrest of six individuals and the confiscation of items worth ₹8.5 lakh, including cash and luxury mobile phones.
Despite the gamblers having substantial cash and everything seemingly under control, their operation was disrupted when the Hinjawadi Police decided to take action. The raid was conducted late last night.
Gamblers or the Joker from Batman?
Whenever someone is caught gambling, legal action is taken against them, and they typically display a range of emotions such as anxiety, fear, anger, or sadness. However, in this case, the accused showed an unusual lack of stress. A photo of the accused, which has gone viral on social media, captures one of them smiling at the camera. Another accused is seen supporting him, and notably, four police officers are also visible in the image. Their calm and relaxed attitude in such a serious legal situation has led some people to compare them to the character of ‘Joker’ from Batman, who is known for staying calm and amused during chaotic events.
