PMPML’s ₹10 special bus service, known as “Dus mein bus,” which offers affordable travel within old Pune city, may soon be discontinued on this route due to the decline in passengers. The Shivajinagar-Swargate route is a key part of this service, but with Metro offering a faster and more convenient alternative, fewer people are opting for buses.

PMPML spokesperson commented, “The Metro service on this route has only recently begun, but it’s already impacting our ridership numbers. We are observing a decline in passengers using PMPML buses on this route. Although we’re currently reviewing the bus service, there are no immediate plans to discontinue it. Commuters still have multiple transportation options, including buses, the Metro, and auto rickshaws.”

The Metro service has received positive feedback from passengers. Kesar Kulkarni, a regular commuter, said, “I used to take a PMPML bus from Swargate to Shivajinagar and then continue to Aundh for work. Now, I rely solely on the Metro, as it’s both convenient and affordable.”

Another passenger, Tushar Patil, shared, “The Metro is safe, fast, and economical. Now that the Swargate-Shivajinagar route is open, it’s easy to reach destinations like Chinchwad and Ahmednagar Road from Swargate.”
