Survey Led By Pune Police, MLA And Govt Authorities To Address Wagholi Traffic Woes


1. Bypass Road Construction: A bypass road from Kharadi Jakat Naka to Katkewadi is set to be constructed as a priority. The bypass from Kharadi Jakat Naka to Keshnand Road, near Phoenix School, will begin immediately, with ₹3.5 crores already allocated for the project. Additional funds will be provided for the remaining sections as needed.

2. Wageshwar to Lonikand Bypass: The remaining section of the bypass from Wageshwar Chowk to Lonikand via Bawadi Road, near Surbhi Hotel, will be completed. This will help divert traffic from Lohgaon Road towards Lonikand.

3. Signal Installation and Road Widening:Traffic signals will be installed at major junctions on a priority basis. Additionally, Keshnand Phata Chowk will be relocated and widened to ensure smoother traffic flow from Keshnand Road towards Nagar and Pune City.

4. Highway Widening:The highway road will be widened, and electrical poles will be removed wherever possible to create an additional lane for traffic movement.

With all the responsible government departments involved in the survey, instructions have been given to complete the work on a priority basis, which is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Wagholi.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Gajanan Jadhav, senior police Inspector, Lonikand Traffic Division said, “The survey was held to understand the bottle necks and also to resolve them. Several issues have been  noted by the Senior Police, MLA Ashok Pawar, PWD and PMRDA Authorities. Presently the issue of congestion to a great extent is resolved as more towing vans have been assigned to the area.”
