What NewPipe Does Not Do
NewPipe is honest about its limitations. It's a front-end, not a full replacement for YouTube's social features:
- No comment posting — you can read comments but not post them
- No live chat — live stream chat is not supported
- No watch history sync — history stays on your device only
- Occasional breaks after YouTube updates — when YouTube changes its website structure, NewPipe may briefly stop working until the team releases a fix. These updates typically arrive within days.

How to Download NewPipe via F-Droid
NewPipe is distributed through F-Droid — the open-source Android app repository. It is not on Google Play because it bypasses YouTube's monetisation system, which violates Google Play's terms of service.
Step 1: Install F-Droid
Go to f-droid.org on your Android browser and download the F-Droid APK. You'll need to allow installation from unknown sources in your Android security settings — this is standard for any app not from Google Play.
